Locked Documents

Sometimes you may want to settle your invoice when you deal with locked documents. These are the final documents uploaded by your preparer. To unlock the document, you must pay the associated invoice. Once the document is unlocked, it can be instantly previewed and downloaded.

Unlocking Documents From the Documents Page

If the document is locked you will see the Waiting for action button on the top left of the Documents page. You will also see a lock icon next to it in the Recent or Folders tabs.

To unlock the file:

  1. Click the file name in the Waiting for action button or in the Recent and Folders tabs.
  2. Review the invoice information and click Pay.
  3. Enter your personal details and your card details/bank account, and proceed with the payment.
  4. Once payment has been made, the document will be instantly unlocked. You will now be able to view and download it.

Unlocking Documents From the Email Link

If you received an email notification about a locked document waiting for your signature or approval, you can click the link in the message to view it. 

If the document is locked you will see the Pay Invoice sidebar.

To unlock the file:

  1. Review the invoice information and click Pay.
  2. Enter your personal details and your card details/bank account, and proceed with the payment.
  3. Once payment has been made, the document will be instantly unlocked. You will now be able to sign or approve it.
